Purchased The Shark with the separate canister and attachments. I mop my floors once every week or two and am happy with how it cleans however my linolium floor is not fairing very well since I have been using it. If you have any dings in your floor you will start to notice them as dark spots after a few uses then it’s too late because the steam has gotten underneath the top layer and is drying out the glue therefore pulling away from the floor. It does leave dirt around moulding that you have to wipe off with a towel no matter how well you sweep or vacuum. I LOVE how it cleans my showers and bath tubs! I clean them once every week or two. I have really hard water and soap scum is a HUGE HUGE problem. Although you have to wipe it away I’d rather wipe than scrub and scrub not get anywhere and hardly be able to breathe from all the chemicals in the process. The handle seems pretty wimpy but if you mop often depending on how many kids and pets you have with how hot the steam is it should be effortless. The pads do stain no matter what detergent I use. The brush attachments are hard to clean even with holding it with a set of pliers and shooting it with the shark the goo from the soap scum never fully comes off. So pros and cons just like any other product.

I am having the same streaking on my laminate floors. I have always cleaned with clear water before. I used mine for the first time tonight, first with the white cover – left my floors looking aweful like I had used a dirty mop. Then after reading the posts here, I used the purple cover. I am frustrated, they look just as bad. My entire downstairs is Pergo floors, and now they have a dull haze I will have to buff off with a towel.

Are we supposed to wash the covers before the first use? I hope that is all is. I still cleaned my floors of all the spills from my 4 kids, but they don’t look good. Does anyone actually have a solution as to how to prevent the streaking?

Not giving up yet!!!
Update:
Okay, did I say I wouldn’t give up? I just posted my frustration about the streaking and haze on my Pergo laminate floors…it’s my fault! Years of build-up and the wrong care. Pergo recommends vinegar and warm water to remove the residue. After spot cleaning a three foot area with vinegar, I ran the steam pocket mop over the area and MAN do they look good!

So here goes:
If you see streaking, hazing or film, it is because your floors need to be deeply cleaned once. After the initial care, the mop will maintain the shine and eliminate the hassle of the deep cleaning! Whew, I feel better now.

I asked for and received the Shark Steam Pocket mop for Xams. I have wanted it for a very long time but could not make up my mind. Well after today, I am convinced it is the best idea I have had and the best Xmas gift I received. After using it today I found my floors to be “barefoot walk on clean”. It was easy to assemble and extremely easy to use. The fact that I do not have a mop and buckey full of nasty water is fabulous and makes the job less of a chore. I cannot say anything but great things about it. I would highly recommend it, price and all. If you look around, you can find it for less than $100. You will save that much in no time by not having to use so much water and cleaners. In a nut shell…..LOVE It!!

When I first bought Shark Steam Mop I must say that I was a little skeptical but now I think I’m in love with this new steam mop. To be honest, I actually bought the first shark steam mop because I was not aware that the new version had come out recently. I decided since I had already bought this version of the mop that I would give it a test run and see how it worked and see if I might be interested in getting the more expensive pocket mop version. I gave the shark mop a test run and was pretty impressed with the results. I decided to research steam mop reviews on the Internet to see what other people have to say.

I found that other people’s reviews pretty much matched my own opinions about the product. The Handle of the original seems very flimsy and the water tank just does not hold enough water. Also, I found that the cord was a little too short for my liking and I had to find multiple plug-ins to be able to clean the entire area. If I were to compare the Shark Steam Mop with the Swiffer Wetjet I would say that the steam mop wins hands down. For example, I have a large amount of hair spray buildup on my floor in the bathroom and had a very difficult time removing it but the Shark Steam Mop was able to remove the hairspray build up with just a few passes. The new pocket version has a triangular attachment that is perfect for getting into small places like around toilets.

Another thing I love about the Shark Steam Mop mom is that it is double-sided so you can just flip to the opposite side when the first side gets dirty. I like the fact that the company seems to have listened to the complaints about their first model and it seemed to incorporate the suggestions into this latest model. The handle is much more sturdy and the tank must hold at least two times the amount of the previous model. I also love that they have made the electric cord much longer so that I don’t have to waste time finding another electrical outlet to plug-in to. Some people who wrote reviews on the Internet seemed to have issues with the mop leaving wetness on their floors. Another complaint I saw was that the mop somehow scratched their wood floor. I have yet to have either of these things happened to me.

If there is a downside to the Shark Steam Mop at mop I would have to say that it would be its high price. The original Shark Steam Mop can now be found in the $70 range and this seems like a much more reasonable price. It seems to me that a lot of people will be put off by the $120 price tag. So far, I really have had no problems with my steam mop. When I get to a really messy area, I just make sure to go over it multiple times and how to handle generously so that the mop can generate the extra steam it needs. All in all, I am very happy with my Shark Steam Mop and I would, without a doubt, recommend the shark pocket mop over the old version.

Yes I purchased the Shark Steam Pocket mop – I ordered it over the phone, bought the extra pads (for an additional $40 plus s/H), paid a total of $168.75 for all of it, had to call the home office (in Canada) SEVERAL times to even get a tracking number even though the person on the phone asked me my email address when I ordered it so she could send me the tracking info. I never did get anything in my email regarding my order.

I originally called the phone number back that I ordered the mop from and she gave me their customer service number. I called there and was put on hold for 30 minutes. They have a canned response for all phone calls that says something to the effect that they are receiving a high volume of calls and the wait time for a representative is over 8 minutes. It doesn’t matter what time of day or night you call, you get the same message. Anyway, after finally getting a service representative and asking them about getting an email confirmation of my order (I was told when ordering it over the phone that it would take anywhere from 2 to 6 WEEKS for it to be delivered)that even though they ask you for your email address they do NOT send out order confirmations and if you want tracking information you have to call the main office in Canada. Which I did. Another 15 minute wait for someone to answer the phone – and I got the same run around about getting a confirmation sent to me of my order. No, we don’t do that. Then, I asked, WHY do the phone operators ask for an email address. I don’t know but we do not send out order confirmations – was the reply. I finally, after insisting numerous times, DID receive a UPS tracking number and was able to get an idea of when my order would arrive. After receiving my order, I opened the box, and lo and behold – no additional mop heads which I had ordered. I called customer service back. Oh, those are sent out separately and through USPS not UPS. You should be getting them within 2 to 6 weeks…

I did finally get a tracking number for the additional mop heads and found out that they were sent 2 weeks AFTER they had been ordered originally and are still floating around somewhere within the USPS system. I was hoping to receive them today since it has now been 3 weeks since they were “shipped”, but they did not come in the mail. Maybe I’ll get them before Christmas. I hope that any of you that ordered this thing over the phone did not have to go through all this mess just to find out mailing information about your steam mop. As for the effectiveness of the cleaning – I have to use my Rug Doctor floor cleaner (not the carpet cleaner)first on my floor THEN if I use the Steam Pocket Mop it MIGHT get some of the dirt up but it basically is just a glorified, expensive dust mop as far as I am concerned. It does not clean my floors but it does put out a lot of steam and sure raises the humidity level in my home. Also, after using it my house always smells like a wet dog – I don’t have a dog. So, I’ll be using it as a dust mop I guess (what a waste of money!!!) but I will also be checking into that Bissell Steam Mop Eucalyptus Scented cleaning fluid that was mentioned above. I’ve got to do something to get rid of the horrible wet dog smell it leaves everytime I’ve used it. I guess I just got a lemon, but I sure hope nobody else gets one. And NO I won’t be ordering anything else from that company EVER again!
